Riversleigh Fossil Trail (~0.8 km loop) in Boodjamulla National Park (Riversleigh World Heritage Area) — a short interpretive walk at Riversleigh D Site, part of the Australian Fossil Mammal Sites World Heritage Area, climbing a limestone outcrop past fossil-bearing rock with signs explaining the ancient rainforest animals found here, to a lookout over the Gregory River country. Fossils are protected: look but never touch, collect or climb on the rocks. Very hot: walk early, carry plenty of water and check road conditions; access is unsealed. Remote area with little or no phone coverage: tell someone your plans, carry plenty of water and a map. Hot and exposed: start early and carry plenty of water. Seasonal: tracks may close after heavy rain, in the wet season or during fire management; check Queensland Parks alerts before you go. Check in at GPS points to earn ACTIVE Coins.
