Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail (~1.42 km one way) in the Flagstaff Hill (Island Point) reserve, Port Douglas — a coastal headland walk from the Flagstaff Hill lookout on Island Point Road, winding through rainforest and down stairs around the headland to the northern end of Four Mile Beach, with views over the Coral Sea and the beach. Steps and steep sections: wear sturdy shoes, carry water and do not swim at the beach outside the patrolled, netted area in stinger season. Crocodile country: stay well back from the water's edge and never swim in creeks, rivers or estuaries. Hot and exposed: start early and carry plenty of water.
