Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) Walk (~5.22 km one way) in the K'gari (Fraser Island) section of Great Sandy National Park — a sandy forest walk to Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora), a perched lake of startlingly clear blue water and white silica sand on the Butchulla people's island of K'gari. 4WD access only; keep food away from dingoes and never feed them. Remote area with little or no phone coverage: tell someone your plans, carry plenty of water and a map. Hot and exposed: start early and carry plenty of water.
