Lake Wabby Walk (~2.73 km one way) in K'gari (Fraser Island), Great Sandy National Park — a sandy walk from the Eastern Beach car park through coastal forest to Lake Wabby, K'gari's deepest lake, a striking green barrage lake being slowly filled by the Hammerstone Sandblow. Soft sand and some climbs; carry water and a hat. Do not run or roll down the sandblow into the lake (shallow water, serious injuries have occurred). K'gari is wongari (dingo) country: always stay within arm's reach of children and never feed or approach dingoes. 4WD access only. Remote area with little or no phone coverage: tell someone your plans, carry plenty of water and a map. Hot and exposed: start early and carry plenty of water.
