Lake Boomanjin Walk (~6.27 km one way) in K'gari (Fraser Island), Great Sandy National Park — a section of the K'gari Great Walk from Dilli Village, climbing gently through coastal heath and tall eucalypt forest to Lake Boomanjin, one of the largest perched dune lakes in the world, with tea-tree stained water and white sand shores. Lake Boomanjin is a place of deep significance to the Butchulla people: please be respectful, stay on the track and keep the lake clean. Walk back the same way or arrange a pick-up. K'gari is dingo country: never feed or approach dingoes, keep children within arm's reach and walk in groups. 4WD-only island access. Remote area with little or no phone coverage: tell someone your plans, carry plenty of water and a map. Seasonal: tracks may close after heavy rain, in the wet season or during fire management; check Queensland Parks alerts before you go. Check in at GPS points to earn ACTIVE Coins.
